Early Literacy Module Kick-off!
In February five Reading First Districts began the Early Literacy Module Pilot Study. Three study groups were released, including one cross district group. There are plans to potentially release two more study groups this summer!
The current participating districts are:
- Harrisburg
- Western Wayne
- Lancaster
- Monessen
- Reading
The teachers in these districts are the first to take the Early Literacy: Introduction to Comprehensive Early Literacy module.
This module has some new and exciting features including:
- 10-15 hours per module
- Self-directed study group
- Job embedded activities
- Online discussions and chats
- Videos of classroom practice
- Look-fors
- Mini action research cycle
Two more modules for Early Literacy will be released this spring. Following that release development will begin on the Word Study and Developing Comprehension modules which will be available in the late spring and summer for enrollments.
