Q: Is there a prescribed order aside from taking the prerequisite course first?
A: It is recommended that the courses be taken in the sequence shown above.
Q: How do I apply to enter the Letter of Endorsement program?
A: If you have never taken a Wilkes graduate class before then you can go to the Wilkes web site and apply online for the Letter of Endorsement in Teacher Leadership & Instructional Coaching graduate program. A one-time application fee, currently $40, will be required. If you have taken a Wilkes graduate course previously it is recommended that you call 1-570-408-4671 for an application packet and apply through the mail to avoid having to re-pay the application fee.
All applicants must submit official transcripts from their undergraduate degree institution and where they obtained their teaching certificate plus one letter of recommendation and a copy of their teaching certificate to complete their application file. When all materials are received your file will be reviewed for acceptance and letters will be generated to the student with an assigned academic advisor.
Q: Will students need to complete some type of a culminating project after all courses are finished?
A: No.
Q: How many courses can a student take at one time?
A: Because of the job-embedded nature of eMBEDDED LEARNING's online courses, it is recommended that students take one course at a time, one during the summer and three courses during the school year. Each course is approximately 8 to 10 weeks.
Q: How many courses can a student take in a year?
A: Depending on the pace of the study group in which the student is enrolled, a student could take as many as four courses in a calendar year.
Q: Can students take any of these courses over the summer without a classroom?
A: Yes, Teacher Leadership comes in a summer version of the course.
Q: How can I get a copy of my official transcript?
A: Official transcripts must be requested in writing to the Wilkes University Recorder's Office. Transcript request forms may be printed from the Wilkes University web site. For more information call 1-800-WILKESU ext. 4856 or email: theresa.rallo@wilkes.edu.
Q: What is the grading/scoring base for graduate courses?
A: The grading/scoring is as follows:
A 93 – 100
B 85 – 92
C 76 – 84
F 0 – 75
Q: How many learners will be in a graduate study group?
A: Usually five to ten learners.
Q: Will learners be able to choose their graduate facilitators?
A: Graduate facilitators are assigned by eMBEDDED LEARNING. However, consideration will be given to study groups that form consisting of teachers from one school or district if notice is given to eMBEDDED LEARNING in advance.
Q: Can I pick the learners I want to be with in my graduate study group?
A: eMBEDDED LEARNING will make every effort to accommodate your request. Contact Customer Service at 1-888-235-6555 to discuss your request.
Q: Will rolling registration apply to the graduate program?
A: Yes. There is no strict academic calendar to which the courses will be applied. However, because of the job-embedded nature of the program, most courses do require completion during the regular school year.
Q: Who will report Pennsylvania Act 48 hours for graduate courses?
A: Wilkes University. Act 48 hours will be posted three times per year after the end of the regular semesters (spring, summer and fall).
Q: How can I confirm that I received my Pennsylvania Act 48 credits?
A: Graduate ED courses completed for Wilkes credit beginning Spring 2000 are posted to the PDE website: https://www.perms.ed.state.pa.us. Act 48 course credits are posted approximately one month after each semester ends.
Q: What if my address changed?
A: Please contact Wilkes University directly at the Graduate Teacher Education Office and be sure to change your address in your online account with eMBEDDED LEARNING or call 1-724-459-3180.
Q: What do I do if my name has changed?
A: You can submit your name change online by logging into your LSI account and filling out the online request. If you are a declared degree student, a Name Change Request must also be sent via mail to Wilkes University along with a photocopy of a marriage certificate, social security card, divorce decree or other legal document.
Q: Can I transfer credits into this graduate program?
A: Not presently. This is a competency-based program and the skills developed through the embedded activities are critical.
Q: Will I need to complete a thesis?
A: There is NO thesis or comprehensive exam to be completed at the conclusion of coursework for the 12-credit graduate program.
Q: Is there a timeline within which I must complete the degree?
A: The timeline to complete the program is flexible; you have up to three years to complete all required coursework.
Q: Where can I find my final grades?
A: Degree-seeking students have 24-hour access to final grades after the Wilkes University Registrar's Office processes them at the end of each semester. Students can log in to the secure web site with their WIN and PIN to view grades and other information. Unofficial grade mailers are also sent to students after the semester ends.
Q: Where do I get my textbooks?
A: The eMBEDDED LEARNING courses have the textbooks included at this time.
